Northwestern lost 6 games in 2016 against 5 FBS opponents (Western Michigan, Nebraska, Ohio State, Wisconsin and Minnesota) who had a combined overall record of 53-14 or .791%. The Wildcats lost those games by a total score of 120-73 or 9.4 points per game. The Wildcats also lost to Illinois State (FCS) by a score of 9-7.

 

 
Since 2006, Northwestern is 9-2 on week one of the college season. The Wildcats are 7-2 against FBS opponents (Miami (OH), Syracuse-twice, Vanderbilt, Boston College, CAL and Stanford) and have won those games by a total score of 200-128 or 10.2 points per game.
