Join Host Joe Lisi (former ABC Sports college football researcher) as he joins former Alabama Crimson Tide running back Kerry Goode.
Goode was a star running back at Hazelwood in Decatur and part of the 1982 state championship team. He was recruited as part of Ray Perkins first recruiting class after taking over for legendary Alabama Crimson Tide head coach Bear Bryant.
Goode had a very solid freshman season rushing for 693 yards and had 43 receiving yards in his first season.
In 1984, his second season in Tuscaloosa, Goode starting his sophmore year with a very impressive opening half against Boston College and Heisman Trophy candidate Doug Flutie. Goode rushed for 68 yards and had a touchdown run along with a touchdown reception in leading the Crimson Tide to a 24-14 halftime lead. Goode was injured in that game and never returned after sustaining a knee injury.
Goode would return after knee rehabilitation in 1985 and rushed for 76 rushing yards.
In 1986, Goode contributed by rushing for 210 yards and backed up star Alabama running back Bobby Humphrey inn 1987.
However, in 1988 Goode made the his dream of playing in the NFL a reality by being drafted by the Tampa Bay Bucs in the 7th round of the 1988 NFL Draft.
Goode worked for 10 years under New York Giants and Atlanta head coach Dan Reeves as strength and conditioning coach.
