Former Minnesota RB Darrell Thompson Joins Joe Lisi and Corey Allen On The Weekly Blitz
Join Host Joe Lisi (former ABC Sports college football researcher) and Co-Host Corey Allen (former Georgia WR) as they speak with former Minnesota Golden Gophers and Green Bay Packers RB Darrell Thompson about his outstanding college and NFL career.
Thompson was a standout at Minnesota from 1986-1989. In four seasons in Minneapolis, Thompson recorded 4,518 rushing yards averaging 5.0 yards per carry with 40 touchdowns. He burst onto the scene leading the Big 10 in rushing in 1986 with 1,240 rushing yards and was named Big 10 freshman of the year. Thompson had great vision and explosiveness. He was excellent between the tackles and was a power back that had the speed to take it the distance every time he touched the ball.
Thompson possessed great hands and could catch the ball out of the backfield. He recorded 47 receptions for 337 yards and 3 touchdowns in his four seasons for the Golden Gophers.
He was the 19th overall pick in the first round of the 1990 NFL Draft by the Green Bay Packers and recorded 1,641 yards in his NFL career with 7 touchdowns. He also had 41 receptions for 330 yards and 1 touchdown.
Thompson is a true inspiration in his current role as President of Bolder Options. He used the experience on the gridiron in serving the youth of Minneapolis. He is a positive role model for athletes and individuals of all ages.

Corey Allen was a former Georgia Bulldog wide receiver from 1994-1997. He finished his career with 63 receptions for 908 yards with 14.4 yards per catch and 5 touchdowns.He has two of the most dramatic touchdown receptions in Bulldogs history in the late 90's. His historic touchdown catch in the 1996 Georgia vs. Auburn set the stage for the 1st SEC OT game. Georgia went on to defeat the Tigers in 4 OT's. His last second touchdown catch in 1997 in Atlanta sealed the victory for the 'Dawgs over their cross town rival the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.
