Interview With Former Heisman Trophy Winner Gino Torretta
Gino Torretta is a former quarterback for the Miami Hurricanes from 1989-1992. He compiled a 23-1 record as a starter from 1991-1992 and threw for 6,155 yards with 39 touchdowns and 15 interceptions in leading the Hurricanes to an undefeated 12-0 record and a share of the national championship. In 1992, Torretta won the Heisman Trophy and led the Hurricanes back to the Sugar Bowl for a national championship appearance.
He was drafted in the 7th round of the 1993 NFL Draft by the Minnesota Vikings and played five seasons in the NFL for Vikings, Lions, 49'ers, Seahawks and Colts. He was the part of two national championship teams (1989 and 1991). His career accolades include: 1992 Consensus All-American, 1992 Heisman Trophy, 1992 Davey O'Brien Award, 1992 Maxwell Award, 1992 Johnny Unitas Award, 1992 Harley Award and 1992 Walter Camp Award.
Corey Allen was a former Georgia Bulldog wide receiver from 1994-1997. He finished his career with 63 receptions for 908 yards with 14.4 yards per catch and 5 touchdowns.He has two of the most dramatic touchdown receptions in Bulldogs history in the late 90's. His historic touchdown catch in the 1996 Georgia vs. Auburn set the stage for the 1st SEC OT game. Georgia went on to defeat the Tigers in 4 OT's. His last second touchdown catch in 1997 in Atlanta sealed the victory for the 'Dawgs over their cross town rival the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.
