Interview With Former Nebraska and NFL LB Jay Foreman
Jay Foreman was a standout linebacker for the Nebraska Cornhuskers from 1995-1998. He was a 2-time National Champion ('95, '97) and ranked 14th overall All-Time on the Nebraska Cornhuskers career tackle list with 233 total tackles in his career. He was a very physical linebacker that could makes plays sideline to sideline. Foreman was the anchor of a dominant "Blackshirts" linebacker corps for Nebraska defensive coordinator Charlie McBride. Foreman was a very disciplined player that played with intensity and heart.
He is the son of former Minnesota Vikings standout running back-Chuck Foreman.
He was drafted in the 5th round of the 1999 NFL Draft by the Buffalo Bills. He played for the Bills from 1999-2001. In 2002, Foreman took his talents to Houston to play for the Texans in their first season and had an outstanding career for the Texans from 2002-2004. In his nine year career in the NFL, Foreman recorded 937 total tackles, 4.5 sacks and 4 forced fumbles.
In college, Jay was an All-Big 12 Conference Selection for Nebraska and played nine years in the NFL. A four-year letter winner, he served as a starting linebacker during the 1995 and 1997 national championship seasons. He ranks 14th on the Huskers' all-time tackles chart with 233 tackles and was the team captain his senior year. In 1998, Foreman was a semi-finalist for the Dick Butkus award.
Mr. Foreman made two postseason appearances during his nine year NFL career and joined the Houston Texans during their first three seasons as a franchise. Jay was named one of the Texan’s team captains and held the title for three years. He achieved five consecutive seasons of over 100 tackles, two of which he recorded over 200 tackles and a grand total of 937 in his career.
