Interview With Former West Virginia RB Kay-Jay Harris
Kay-Jay Harris was a standout running back for the Mountaineers from 2003-2004. In two seasons in Morgantown, Harris rushed for 1,483 yards averaging 5.8 yards per carry and 14 touchdowns. Harris could also catch the ball out of the backfield with 25 receptions for 292 yards and 3 touchdowns. Harris was very big at 240 lbs.but could run like a scat back with great speed off the edge. He was a very tough inside runner that could pound opposing defenses between the tackles and beat them on the outside with his amazing speed.
Harris had his signature moment in a Mountaineer uniform in 2004 when he rushed for 337 yards and 4 touchdowns in a victory over East Carolina in Morgantown. Harris set the West Virginia and Big East Conference's single game rushing record.
Harris went on to play in the NFL from 2005-2008 with Miami, St. Louis and the New York Giants.
