In 1999, Garcia was signed to the San Francisco 49'ers and had a great NFL career which lasted from 1999-2011. Garcia had almost a 2-1 touchdown to interception ratio (83 career interceptions) and could also make plays with his legs. Garcia added 2,140 rushing yards and 26 touchdowns on the ground.

Garcia played the game with great vision and could complete balls into the tightest of "windows". Garcia was lethal once he broke contain because of his pinpoint accuracy on the run. Garcia was a smart quarterback and made great decisions in leading his teams to victory. He will most be remembered for one of the greatest comebacks in NFL history in 2002 against the New York Giants in the NFC Wild Card Playoff game. Garcia led his team back from a 24 point 3rd quarter deficit to lead the victory over New York 39-38.

Garcia was a 4-time NFL Pro Bowl selection in 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2007.

Currently, Garcia mentors and trains younger athletes in high school, college and the NFL. Some of his former understudies are Mark Sanchez and Jamarcus Russell. Jeff loves the game of football and is a positive role model for athletes of all ages. He is a student of the game and teaches younger athletes how to become better players by understanding the mental part of the game as well as the physical aspect.
