Ki-Jana Carter was a star running back for the Penn State Nittany Lions under head coach Joe Paterno from 1992-1994. Carter had an outstanding career in Happy Valley rushing for 2,829 rushing yards averaging 7.2 yards per carry with 34 touchdowns. Carter had great vision in finding Bouncy Castle holes through opposing defenses and had great speed in hitting the running lanes. Carter caught 20 passes for 172 receiving yards and was a key member of the undefeated 1994 football team that finished the season with a spotless record. Carter ended his college campaign with a great performance in the Rose Bowl victory over the Oregon Ducks and was named as the 1994 Rose Bowl MVP. Ki-Jana was named to the 1994 All-American team and was recently named to the 1994 Rose Bowl Hall of Fame in 2014.
Carter was the 1st overall selection in the 1995 draft by the Cincinnati Bengals and played in the NFL from 1995-2004 for the Bengals, Redskins, Packers and Saints rushing for 1,144 yards with 20 touchdowns. His career was cut short with a knee injury his first season in the NFL, however, he continued to work and rehabilitate in pursuing his dream of playing in the NFL. Carter is a role model for athletes of all ages and is one of the best college players over the last 30 years.
